Did you know at Chick-fil-A, Truett Cathy used to limit owners and operators to be in charge of just one store? His vision was for them to be another pastor to that community – “chicken pastors.” He wanted them to know who lived near their store, what their lives were like, where they worked as well as their family dynamics.
At Vision 2, we are frequently asked: what can you tell us about our givers? Well, there are many things we can tell you about your givers – everything from when was their last gift, to what outreach programs they give most often to. But what about new or first time givers? How can you identify them, or know anything about them?
Let me introduce you to a tool in our contribution management system that is often overlooked but can be so useful in knowing your congregation: The New/First Time Giver report.
How to find the New/First Time Giver Report in Vision2
This report can be found on the people statistics link under the ‘Marketing’ tab. Simply enter a date range and click search to see a list of individuals who gave for the first time during the selected date range.
Did you know you can also thank your first-time givers, using our custom first gift acknowledgement tool? Ask us how by clicking the chat button in the lower right-hand corner of the V2 admin portal.
I would encourage each of you to get to know your first-time-givers by reviewing the list and assigning each first-time giver to your staff accordingly. Ideally, each staff person would be paired with an individual from the list who they can get to know in the next 90 days and beyond. This person is a member of the flock they can walk with and guide along the way. The better you know the people who live in your community and the demographics your church is reaching, the more strategic and effective you can be in shepherding them. Thank you, Truett Cathy.
